Tim and his wife, Nancy, started Living Hope in 2004. Both are native Northern Virginians who felt called to plant this church in their home region after 13 years of ministry in other locales. Following 8 years in a sales position, Tim served as a worship leader and youth pastor in Central Florida in an Episcopal Church. From there he went back to seminary and received an M.Div from the King’s Seminary in 2002. Nancy has had a lifelong call to minister to teens and children as well as a passion for missions and worship. Together they have a heart to see the grace of God and the truth of Scripture made real in the lives of those who follow Jesus Christ. Tim and Nancy’s family includes daughter Laura and her husband, Kyle, son Patrick and his wife, Gabriella and son Benjamin
Raised in a small town in Upstate New York, Jill moved to Virginia after finishing college at SUNY Oswego with a BA in Elementary Education. She furthered her education at George Mason earning a Master’s degree in Special Education. She taught students with special needs in Fairfax County Public Schools for 10 years before becoming a stay at home mom to Izzie and Ike. She married her teammate in 2006 and has been blessed to partner with Dave for 18 years. Jill has been on staff at Living Hope for 6 years. She is passionate about connecting others to the church and assisting each ministry with communications. You might find her behind a camera or laptop serving to tell the story of Living Hope both past, present and future.
Alison has been married to James for 22 fun filled years. They have a son who is a college junior, Jamison, and an 10th grade daughter, MaggieSloan. Alison is the Director of Community Outreach. Her desire is to help equip the body to show Jesus’ love and compassion through service. She has been part of Living Hope staff for 10 years. Before moving to Virginia, she worked in youth and children’s ministry and served as a missionary in Latvia. Other than pointing people to Jesus, Alison’s favorite thing to do is laugh. Being a lifelong South Carolina Gamecock fan she gets to do that often or else she might cry. Personally, the bible verse that she holds dear and wants to be like is 1 Corinthians 2:2 For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified.

After finishing her Bachelor’s of Science in Biblical Counseling with a minor in Music from Bob Jones University (Greenville, SC), Mikayla Steele pursued a Masters of Arts in Biblical Counseling from Bob Jones Seminary. Following two years of serving in a graduate assistant position as a counselor in a girl’s dorm while finishing her masters, Mikayla moved to Virginia to work at Living Hope as the Director of Student Ministries. She has had many years serving as a camp counselor and working with middle schoolers and high schoolers and has grown a deep passion for discipling students. Mikayla absolutely loves finding a cozy coffee shop, getting to have deep conversations, going to the gym to stay in shape, baking, skiing in the winter, and playing various musical instruments. Mikayla is excited to share her love of growing deeper in God’s Word with students and teach the next generation of Living Hope as she focuses on a multi-generational, community-oriented, and discipleship-focused philosophy of ministry.
Bill was born in Bethlehem… the one in Pennsylvania. Six months after he and Critty were married, they together made a commitment to Jesus Christ. It changed everything for them. They were called to help fulfill the Great Commission through the ministry of Cru International, which took them all over the world for the last 50 years. Bill loves helping other men figure out life together following Jesus Christ.
Educated at the College of William and Mary in government and Regent College (Vancouver, BC) in theology. Meredith Anne spent ten years working on Capitol Hill. The next phase of her life brought a lengthening of her work hours as she and her husband raised eight children and had the privilege of educating them at home. As the children graduated, her increasingly empty nest allowed her time to build on her work with women in different capacities over the years (MOPS, Bible studies). Bible literacy is Meredith Anne’s passion, and she loves being a co-learner of the Bible with the varied and gifted women of Living Hope. In addition to an annual retreat, monthly gatherings, and multiple Bible studies, Meredith Anne is especially excited that the women of the church have committed to reading through the Bible together this year.

Mike married his amazing wife, Janelle, in 1995. God blessed them with three now-adult children: Alison, Mackenzie and Andrew. Mike and Janelle met in high school and are both Iowa State University graduates. The family moved to Northern Virginia in 2012 as Mike’s job transferred from Minnesota. Mike now serves as an elder at Living Hope and looks forward to seeing our congregation continue to grow in faith. Mike is a sports fan and is trying to squeeze out a few more years of play before his body completely breaks down.
James grew up on a dairy farm in South Dakota. During his middle school years, he put his trust in Jesus, but really grew in his relationship with Jesus during college. He was actively involved with Cru ministry. Through Cru, he served as a missionary in Riga, Latvia during 1999-2000. That same year, he met Alison, also serving as a missionary with Cru. They were married in 2001 and have a son and a daughter. James enjoys basketball, both playing and coaching his children's teams. He loves to root for an underdog, which his favorite teams, The Iowa State Cyclones, always seem to be. James was elected an Elder at Living Hope in 2022.
